ALYSSA HANLON, MHC-LP

Therapist

OFFICE LOCATION : NEW YORK

Hi there! I’m Alyssa, and I’m truly grateful that you’ve taken the time to visit my page. As a warm and dedicated therapist, I specialize in helping individuals and families navigate the emotional, psychological, and relational challenges that life sometimes presents.

What sets me apart is my deep commitment to understanding the unique mind of every client. While our brains share similar structures, our minds are wonderfully individual, filled with distinct thoughts, ideals, and ways of experiencing the world. This belief lies at the heart of my clinical practice—helping you discover your inner strengths and empowering you to overcome challenges.

I focus on working with adolescents and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and interpersonal issues. My approach is rooted in creating a supportive, non-judgmental space where you feel safe to explore your concerns and work toward healing. By drawing on therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based practices, I tailor interventions to meet your unique needs, fostering resilience and positive change. My ultimate goal is to equip you with the tools and insights necessary for lasting personal growth, so the progress we make together continues to enrich your life outside the therapy room.

I have extensive experience collaborating with individuals, couples, and families as they navigate significant life transitions, including divorce, trauma, and other challenging situations. I proudly serve diverse communities—including the LGBTQ+ community, individuals with disabilities, and clients from a variety of cultural backgrounds—ensuring that every client receives compassionate and personalized care.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy crocheting, reading, and spending quality time with friends—and yes, I’m a big fan of the New York Giants! I believe in living a balanced, holistic life and am passionate about fostering a supportive environment where you can feel heard, valued, and empowered on your path to mental and emotional wellness.

I hold an M.S. in Forensic Science with a concentration in Behavioral Sciences from Syracuse University, as well as an M.A. in Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Forensic Psychology. These educational experiences have provided me with a solid foundation in both the scientific and compassionate aspects of mental health care, allowing me to integrate evidence-based practices with heartfelt support.

I’m honored to be a part of your journey and look forward to walking alongside you as you take steps toward a brighter, healthier future.
