Living with anxiety + how to SHIFT away from it

Anxiety affects millions of people worldwide and is the most common mental disorder globally, with an estimated 264 million people affected. In the United States, anxiety disorders are the most prevalent mental illness, affecting 18.1% of the population.

Anxiety can be caused by various factors, including genetics, brain chemistry, and life experiences such as trauma, abuse, and chronic stress. Symptoms of anxiety can include excessive worry or fear, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, irritability, muscle tension, sleep disturbances, and panic attacks.

Treatment options for anxiety include medication, therapy, and lifestyle changes. Medication can be effective but may not be suitable for everyone and can have side effects. Therapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), can help change negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to anxiety and teach coping skills. Lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, a healthy diet, and mindfulness practices like meditation and yoga can also help reduce symptoms.

It is essential to seek help from a mental health professional if you or someone you know experiences symptoms of anxiety. Unfortunately, only 36.9% of people with anxiety disorders receive treatment. Therefore, raising awareness about anxiety and the available treatment options is crucial.

As a reader, there are several things you can do after reading this blog. Firstly, if you or someone you know experiences symptoms of anxiety, seek help from a mental health professional.
